Nigeria’s Calabar Carnival defies financial woes

The annual Calabar Carnival in southern Nigeria used to be a month-long event, featuring mountain races, cultural displays and even beauty pageants.

However, the ongoing economic turmoil has forced the organisers to make adjustments over the years. But it remains one of the biggest attractions on the African continent.
