Doha: The Alrabaa characters from Ooredoo celebrated a major milestone this weekend, as executives predicted their charity calls offer would exceed more than 100,000,000 local calls by end of Ramadan.
As part of the campaign, Ooredoo is donating one dirham to charity for every local call made, with the final amount set to be presented after the Eid break.
Having reached 85,395,400 calls, Alrabaa characters celebrated with a special appearance at the Doha Corniche.
Volunteers distributed caps and water bottles for people walking on the Corniche at sunset, and found time to work out alongside sports fans and exercisers.
“The Alrabaa campaign has captured people’s imagination, and it’s been excellent to see them interacting with people from all walks of life,” said Fatima Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo.
“We’re delighted that the current total of local calls during the campaign has exceeded 85,000,000, and we believe we’re on the way to smashing through the 100,000,000 target by end of Ramadan.”
Ooredoo is also offering members of its popular Nojoom reward programme the opportunity to convert their Nojoom points for charity.
Working with Qatar Charity and Eid Charity, Ooredoo is enabling people to use their points to buy iftar meals for the poor and needy.
So far, Nojoom members have donated 6,691,300 points.
There is time for people to contribute to both campaigns, either by making calls or donating their Nojoom points, and Ooredoo is anticipating ongoing support for both during the final week of Ramadan.
Throughout Ramadan, Alrabaa have visited hospitals, appeared at malls, and in events for charities. The team is planning a host of surprises over the Eid break.
