Hong Kong (CNN Business)Asian markets were cautiously optimistic on Thursday, as President Donald Trump’s latest remarks on US-China trade talks sent a flicker of hope through the region.

South Korea’s Kospi (KOSPI) advanced around 1%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 (N225) edged up about 0.3%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng (HSI) gained as much as 0.9%. China’s Shanghai Composite (SHCOMP) added around 0.2%.
