Australia laws threaten social media executives over content

Australia has passed tough new laws that threaten to send social media executives to jail if they do not act quickly to take down violent content.

In response to those mosque attacks in Christchurch, which were livestreamed by the killer, Australia’s government has rushed the legislation through.

Australia’s government is the first in the world to pass laws as a result, explicitly targeting social media companies.

Some are concerned it may have acted too fast.
