New Delhi (CNN)Prime Minister Narendra Modi reassured Indians that the “the entire country is … standing with our soldiers” in a video conference Thursday after days of tensions with Pakistan — but didn’t specifically mention recent incursions over disputed territory.
It was Modi’s first speech since an Indian pilot was shot down and detained by nuclear neighbor Pakistan on Wednesday. However, the Prime Minister also didn’t address the pilot’s situation.
His remarks came as US President Donald Trump told of “attractive news” from Pakistan and India after his summit with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un concluded Thursday in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi.
