Frustration in Ramallah growing with government leaders

Recent polling has indicated two-thirds of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank want Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to resign, as well as an increase of support for Hamas, following the weeks of increased violence between Israel and Palestinians.

There is already a great deal of pessimism about the prospect of a future sovereign Palestine, and in Ramallah, residents told Al Jazeera it is made worse by a greater Israeli military presence, and the ineptitude of their own political leaders.

The poll suggested Palestinian preferences are moving away diplomatic negotiations that do not appear to have borne fruit and towards an armed resistance.
