US President Donald Trump defended his decision to withdraw US troops from Syria, saying his that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group has been defeated.
His tweets surprised just about everyone, both at home and abroad.
France is warned ISIL has not been wiped off the map.
And rebel groups fighting ISIL said a US pullout could destabilise the region.
So, has ISIL been defeated?
