Mexico’s president-elect to scrap $13bn airport project

Mexico’s president-elect is facing criticism for cancelling the building of a new airport in Mexico City.

But Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he’s respecting the result of a referendum by the Mexican people.

Last week, voters rejected the partly built $13bn airport that the current president started in 2015.

Al Jazeera’s John Holman reports from Mexico City.
