{"id":47120,"date":"2021-12-08T06:26:41","date_gmt":"2021-12-08T06:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=47120"},"modified":"2021-12-08T06:26:41","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T06:26:41","slug":"kuwaiti-people-look-forward-to-saudi-crown-prince-mohammed-bin-salmans-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=47120","title":{"rendered":"Kuwaiti people look forward to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman\u2019s visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"113\">\n<p>\nBEIRUT: On Tuesday, at the request of President Emmanuel Macron, French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Griot briefed Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Macron\u2019s Gulf tour, especially his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which \u201cexpressed its commitment to helping Lebanon, pointing out the need to implement the commitments that have been undertaken,\u201d as stated by the media office of the Lebanese presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\nDuring the meeting, Griot stressed that \u201cSaudi Arabia and the Gulf countries are ready to undertake the required steps, and that for its part, Lebanon should undertake what is required from it and prove its credibility in its commitment to reforms, especially the structural reforms that require new work tools to confront the deep crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nThe meeting held last Saturday in Jeddah between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Macron saw the issuing of a statement concerning Lebanon, in which the pair stressed the \u201cneed (for) the Lebanese government to undertake comprehensive reforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nThe two sides also stressed the \u201cneed to limit possession of arms to legitimate state institutions,\u201d and that \u201cLebanon should not serve as a base for terrorist acts that destabilize the security and stability of the region, or a base for drug trafficking,\u201d further stressing \u201cthe importance of strengthening the role of the Lebanese Army in maintaining the security and stability of Lebanon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nThe pair had made a joint phone call during the meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati.<\/p>\n<p>\nDuring her talks with Aoun, Griot stressed the importance placed by the international community and France in the legislative, municipal, and presidential elections due next year.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn response to the Saudi-French statement, on behalf of Hezbollah, former minister Mohammed Fneish said on Tuesday that the group \u201cwill not \u2026 substitute the symbol of our dignity and freedom with bare essentials of living conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cThe attempts to make us relinquish the resistance and its arms in return of resolving the economic crisis is something unacceptable to us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"injected-block block-wrapper block-custom-bg padding-1 bottom-spacer--m\">\n<p><h4>\n<span class=\"chars-style\">BACK<\/span>GROUND<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"block-content\" readability=\"32.5\">\n<div class=\"with-separator\" readability=\"10\">\n<p>\nThe meeting held last Saturday in Jeddah between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Macron saw the issuing of a statement concerning Lebanon, in which the pair stressed the \u2018need (for) the Lebanese government to undertake comprehensive reforms.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\nCabinet sessions have been suspended since Oct. 12 over Hezbollah\u2019s stubbornness over the\u00a0 investigation into the Port of Beirut explosion.
