Now UK tech start-up, \u201cWinnow\u201d has introduced a new system to the UAE, which it claims can significantly cut the amount of food going to waste by preventing it from being bought in the first place.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"800\" src=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/userimages\/445491\/2098622635500114500.jpg\" width=\"1200\"><figcaption>\nHeaded by the Minister of Climate Change and Environment and\u00a0Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the event brought together leading government and private sector entities to sign the UAE Food Waste Pledge. (WAM)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\nAccording to the company\u2019s website, \u201cwinnowsolutions,\u201d \u201cfood waste costs the hospitality industry over $100 billion annually. Kitchens can waste up to 20 percent of food purchased, often equivalent to their total net profits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nLaunched at an event organized by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the \u201cWinnow Vision\u201d camera, monitors food waste by learning to recognize ingredients as it is thrown away.
