{"id":39464,"date":"2019-05-22T17:23:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T17:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=39464"},"modified":"2019-05-22T17:23:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T17:23:00","slug":"uae-says-joint-probe-into-tanker-attack-ensures-impartiality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=39464","title":{"rendered":"UAE says joint probe into tanker attack ensures impartiality"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-io-article-url=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/1500731\/middle-east\" readability=\"44\">\n<p>\nDUBAI: The United Arab Emirates said on Wednesday that the participation of several countries in an investigation into last week\u2019s attack on oil tankers off its coast would support the \u201cimpartiality and transparency\u201d of the findings.<br \/>The Gulf Arab state has not yet blamed anyone for the acts of sabotage on four vessels including two Saudi oil tankers, but a senior UAE official has said Abu Dhabi was concerned about Iranian behavior in the region.<br \/>\u201cThe keenness of our international partners to participate in the investigation and the concerted efforts support the impartiality and transparency in arriving at results,\u201d the UAE foreign ministry said in a statement carried on state news agency WAM.<br \/>US government sources told Reuters they believe Iran encouraged Yemen\u2019s Iran-backed Houthi militia or Iraq-based militias to carry out the operation.<br \/>Tehran has distanced itself from the attack, which comes as Iran and the United States spar over sanctions and the US military presence in the Gulf region.<br \/>The UAE foreign ministry statement welcomed the participation of several \u201cfriendly and brotherly\u201d countries in the investigation, but did not name them.
