{"id":39342,"date":"2019-05-12T20:23:34","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T20:23:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=39342"},"modified":"2019-05-12T20:23:34","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T20:23:34","slug":"fujairah-government-denies-media-reports-of-explosions-at-emirates-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=39342","title":{"rendered":"Fujairah government denies media reports of explosions at emirate\u2019s port"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Four commercial vessels targeted by \u2018sabotage\u2019 near UAE waters: Foreign ministry<\/h2>\n<div readability=\"83\">\n<p>\nDUBAI:\u00a0Four commercial vessels were targeted by &#8220;acts of sabotage&#8221;\u00a0near the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday morning, the UAE foreign ministry said in a statement\u00a0amid rising tensions between neighboring Iran and the US.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe statement added\u00a0the vessels, that were targeted near Fujairah and at a distance of 115 kilometers from Iran, \u00a0were \u201ccivilian trading vessels of various nationalities\u201d, and that the UAE was investigating the incident\u00a0with local and international bodies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\nRumors about ships inside the port being sabotaged were unfounded, the ministry added.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe port of Fujairah continues to operate as normal and\u00a0there were no victims of the sabotage incident.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe ministry\u00a0added that targeting merchant ships and threatening the lives of crew members\u00a0is a \u201cdangerous development,\u201d and that the government considers the acts of sabotage to be a threat to the safety and security of the UAE.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\nThe country called on the\u00a0international community to\u00a0prevent any party\u00a0from compromising maritime safety and security.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\nThe ministry statement was tweeted by the official news agency WAM.<\/p>\n<p>\nBahrain condemned the acts of sabotage, saying it was a &#8220;criminal act&#8221; that threatened maritime traffic in the region.
