{"id":38783,"date":"2019-04-04T20:22:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T20:22:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=38783"},"modified":"2019-04-04T20:22:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T20:22:56","slug":"victorious-algerian-protesters-want-other-officials-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=38783","title":{"rendered":"Victorious Algerian protesters want other officials out"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"66\">\n<p>\nGENEVA: Iraq must ensure that Daesh leadership faces justice for alleged war crimes and genocide against civilians, not just charges of belonging to a terrorist group, a UN human rights investigator said on Thursday.<br \/>Four men, two Iraqi and two Syrians, were sentenced to death by a Baghdad court on Oct. 30 on charges of membership of Daesh, a banned terrorist organization, Agnes Callamard, UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, said.<br \/>Their identity has not been revealed but she described them in a statement as \u201cfour senior affiliates of the ISIL leadership,\u201d using a widespread acronym for the militant group.<br \/>\u201cThe trial should have shed light on the inner workings of ISIL and created a crucial judicial record of ISIL crimes against people.\u201d<br \/>The militant group, which took large swathes of Iraq and Syria from 2014, declared a \u201ccaliphate\u201d and imposed a reign of terror with public beheadings and sexual enslavement of women and girls including from the Iraqi Yazidi sect.
