{"id":36565,"date":"2019-03-21T08:22:54","date_gmt":"2019-03-21T08:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=36565"},"modified":"2019-03-21T08:22:54","modified_gmt":"2019-03-21T08:22:54","slug":"nicaragua-government-to-release-prisoners-to-restart-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=36565","title":{"rendered":"Nicaragua government to release prisoners to restart dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"body-200771816342556199\" readability=\"98.5803612784\">\n<p class=\"speakable\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/country\/nicaragua.html\">Nicaragua<\/a>&#8216;s government has agreed to release opposition prisoners within 90 days in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2019\/02\/nicaragua-resumes-talks-political-crisis-long-delay-190228133621140.html\">restart stalled peace talks<\/a> aimed at ending an 11-month political crisis, according to a dialogue mediator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Luis Angel Rosadilla, the special envoy of the Organisation of American States (OAS), said at a press conference on Wednesday that President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/people\/daniel-ortega.html\">Daniel Ortega<\/a>&#8216;s government had agreed to release &#8220;all the people detained in the context of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2019\/03\/100-detained-nicaragua-anti-government-protests-190317055615030.html\">protests<\/a>&#8221; that began in April last year, leaving more than 700 people behind bars and 325 dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The exact number of prisoners due to be released was not given.<\/p>\n<p>Rosadilla laid out six points, agreed by the government and opposition, which will be in the peace talks&#8217; agenda.
