{"id":35115,"date":"2019-03-12T21:23:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T21:23:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=35115"},"modified":"2019-03-12T21:23:25","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T21:23:25","slug":"iran-rights-lawyer-sotoudeh-to-face-additional-10-years-in-jail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=35115","title":{"rendered":"Iran rights lawyer Sotoudeh to face additional 10 years in jail"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-io-article-url=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/1465766\/middle-east\" readability=\"49\">\n<p>\nTEHRAN: Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh has been sentenced to an extra 10 years in jail on top of the five-year term she is already serving, her husband said Tuesday.<br \/>Sotoudeh is an award-winning rights activist who was arrested last June and told she had been found guilty in absentia of espionage charges and sentenced to five years.<br \/>The new 10-year sentence was the longest of seven different verdicts totalling 33 years bundled together in a case and communicated to Sotoudeh in prison, according to her husband Reza Khandan.<br \/>\u201cBut only the longest sentence will be served, which is \u2018encouraging corruption and debauchery and providing the means\u2019,\u201d he told AFP by telephone.<br \/>He said Sotoudeh had also been sentenced to a total of 148 lashes for appearing in court without the hijab Islamic head covering and for another offense.<br \/>She had been found guilty of \u201ccolluding against the system, propaganda against the system&#8230;
