{"id":33606,"date":"2019-02-28T16:25:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T16:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=33606"},"modified":"2019-02-28T16:25:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T16:25:59","slug":"libya-rivals-agree-to-hold-polls-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=33606","title":{"rendered":"Libya rivals agree to hold polls: UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"61\">\n<p>\nJERUSALEM: Israel rejected as a \u201ctheater of the absurd\u201d on Thursday a UN report that accused its forces of possible war crimes in killing scores of Palestinians during Gaza border protests last year.<br \/>Acting Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement that the UN Human Rights Council had \u201cproduced another hostile, mendacious and slanted report against the State of Israel &#8230; No one can deny Israel the right of self-defense and the obligation to defend its citizens and borders from violent attacks.\u201d<br \/>According to the UN probe, there is evidence that Israel committed crimes against humanity in responding to 2018 protests in Gaza, as snipers targeted people clearly identifiable as children, health workers and journalists.<br \/>\u201cIsraeli soldiers committed violations of international human rights and humanitarian law.
