{"id":31313,"date":"2019-01-31T23:24:17","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T23:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=31313"},"modified":"2019-01-31T23:24:17","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T23:24:17","slug":"venezuelas-guaido-lays-out-broad-vision-for-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=31313","title":{"rendered":"Venezuela&#8217;s Guaido lays out broad vision for the country"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"body-200771816342556199\" readability=\"160.044823386\">\n<p class=\"speakable\"><a class=\"InternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/country\/venezuela.html\">Venezuela<\/a>&#8216;s self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaido presented the opposition&#8217;s broad vision for the country&#8217;s future on Thursday, as the political crisis in the country deepened.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">&#8220;We have a plan, well thought out, structured,&#8221; <a class=\"InternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2019\/01\/profile-juan-guaido-venezuela-declared-interim-leader-190124052507068.html\">Guaido<\/a>\u00a0said at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences in the Central University of Venezuela on Thursday, noting that &#8220;it is the sum of many sacrifices&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The &#8220;National Plan&#8221; focuses on the opposition&#8217;s vision for the economy and oil resources, but it also tackles public services, security, governability and society.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Guaido said there would be something for everyone in society to do as Venezuela moves forward, including the military.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The armed forces also have a role in the reconstruction of the country,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Guaido swore himself in as interim president before a crowd of his supporters. The proclamation came after the opposition-controlled National Assembly declared President Nicolas Maduro&#8217;s second-term &#8220;illegitimate&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maduro accuses Guaido of leading a US-backed coup, and says the United States, among other countries, are waging an economic war aimed at removing him from power.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>In Thursday&#8217;s speech, Guaido divided the plan into three phases: the &#8220;c<\/span>essation of the usurpation&#8221;, the establishment of a &#8220;transitional government&#8221; and free elections.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Guaido, the priorities include the coordination of humanitarian assistance, the restoration of public services and an effort to tackle people&#8217;s dependency on subsidies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;No dialogue with Maduro&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Guaido indicated that there would be no dialogue with <a class=\"InternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/people\/nicolas-maduro.html\">Maduro<\/a> or anyone in his government.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will never lend ourselves to false dialogues in any place,&#8221; he said, adding that protests will continue throughout the country. &#8220;The organised, systematic and sustained protests will continue until this dictatorship falls.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span><em>Translation:\u00a0Today we present #PlanPa\u00eds.
