\nLONDON: The United States’\u00a0relationship with Saudi Arabia is essential to the Middle East\u2019s stability and security, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Al Arabiya Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nThe\u00a0US secretary of state also said that the US wants an\u00a0Arab coalition and force that is capable of facing the different challenges in the region. He added that the US will not be leaving the Middle East, and that destroying Daesh is a priority.<\/p>\n
\nPompeo is on a\u00a0whistlestop regional tour aimed at reassuring US allies after President Donald Trump\u2019s shock decision to withdraw all US troops from Syria.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nHe told Al Arabiya that the US\u00a0withdrawal from\u00a0Syria does not contradict its\u00a0strategy towards Iran, and that the Iranian people should know that interfering in the affairs of other states is \u201cunacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe US top diplomat flew in to Manama Friday from Cairo and has already visited Amman, Baghdad and the Iraqi Kurdish regional capital of Irbil.<\/p>\n
\nThe United States plans to jointly host a global summit focused on the Middle East, particularly Iran, next month in Poland, the US\u00a0State Department said on Friday. The gathering will take place in Warsaw from Feb. 13 to Feb. 14, it said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\nUS\u00a0Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News in an interview\u00a0on Friday that the meeting would “focus on Middle East stability and peace and freedom and security here in this region, and that includes an important element of making sure that Iran is not a destabilizing influence.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nPompeo said that a number of matters would be discussed at the summit, the most important of which would be Iran.\u00a0<\/p>\n
