{"id":280,"date":"2013-07-09T15:48:57","date_gmt":"2013-07-09T15:48:57","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-06-01T09:56:15","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T09:56:15","slug":"contentqatar-airways-fetes-aerospace-graduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=280","title":{"rendered":"Qatar Airways fetes aerospace graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Qatar Airways has honoured 35 aerospace students who have graduated from Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC) and are set to embark on a full-time career with the national airline.<\/p>\n<p>The group of students, comprising 14 aircraft maintenance engineers and 21 cadet pilots, have completed their studies under Qatar Airways\u2019 Nationalisation department.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker presided over the graduation ceremony, which was held in Doha on Sunday. Among those who attended the event were senior officials, including Hussain Yousif al-Mulla, undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour; Sheikh Soud bin Nasser al-Thani, director of Government Budget in the Ministry of Finance; Ali al-Malki, director-general of QAC and Dr Khalid Issa al-Hurr, director of Higher Education in the Supreme Education Council. \u201cThis reflects our commitment to attract, develop and more importantly, retain our highly-qualified Qatari nationals,\u201d said al-Baker. \u201cTonight\u2019s graduation ceremony is part of our long-term drive to support young talented Qataris in their education to develop the right set of skills required by our rapidly-growing business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s National Scholarship Programme is a key driver of the airline\u2019s plans to adopt Qatar National Vision 2030. The graduates are the latest success story in its pursuit of fulfilling the vision to create a sustainable future for Qatar by investing in local talent and building a strong local workforce. Al-Baker said the airline is not only hiring Qataris to work, but is also helping them build their career paths in the aviation industry. Qatar Airways has a number of programmes to support Qatari high school graduates in their education, to develop their skills and to guide them towards key leadership roles within the airline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are an airline in a dynamic global industry with a diverse portfolio of great job opportunities not only in the technical area, but administrative as well. We are here in celebration of their educational achievement and wish them well as they are about to begin representing one of the world\u2019s leading airlines &#8211; Qatar Airways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>QA increases flights on Doha-Amman route<\/p>\n<p>Qatar Airways has added two additional flights between Doha and Amman, bringing the total number of services to Jordan to nine weekly flights. \u201cThe extra capacity would improve connections from Amman to around 100 cities across the airline\u2019s global network,\u201d the airline\u2019s chief executive officer Akbar al-Baker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQatar Airways can seamlessly connect travellers from Amman via our Doha hub to diverse cities like London, Dubai, Kuwait, Khartoum, Manila, Dhaka, Muscat and many others. \u201cAt the same time, with our new additional services, we offer travellers from around the world increased connectivity to access popular heritage tourist spots in Jordan such as the ancient city of Petra,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar Airways began operations to Amman in May 1994. The Doha-Amman route is operated by an Airbus A320, featuring 12 seats in First Class and up to 132 seats in Economy.
