{"id":27661,"date":"2019-01-01T19:22:14","date_gmt":"2019-01-01T19:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=27661"},"modified":"2019-01-01T19:22:14","modified_gmt":"2019-01-01T19:22:14","slug":"netflix-removes-episode-of-comedy-show-in-saudi-arabia-ft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=27661","title":{"rendered":"Netflix removes episode of comedy show in Saudi Arabia: FT"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"body-200771816342556199\" readability=\"108.110359188\">\n<p class=\"speakable\">Netflix has removed an episode of a show critical of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/country\/saudi-arabia.html\">Saudi Arabia<\/a> following a complaint by the kingdom, the Financial Times (FT) reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The internet-streaming service removed the second episode of Patriotic Act with Hasan Minhaj in Saudi Arabia after authorities there said the comedy act violated the kingdom&#8217;s anti-cybercrime law, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/5121f014-0db8-11e9-a3aa-118c761d2745\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> on Tuesday said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">In the episode, Minhaj, a comedian, criticised Saudi Crown Prince <span>Mohammed bin Salman<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/indepth\/features\/2017\/06\/profile-saudi-crown-prince-mohammed-bin-salman-170621130040539.html\">MBS<\/a>) over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the kingdom&#8217;s Istanbul consulate, as well as the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now would be a good time to reassess our relationship with Saudi Arabia.
