{"id":26006,"date":"2018-12-18T10:24:55","date_gmt":"2018-12-18T10:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=26006"},"modified":"2018-12-18T10:24:55","modified_gmt":"2018-12-18T10:24:55","slug":"lebanon-seen-closer-to-new-government-minister-says-could-be-within-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=26006","title":{"rendered":"Lebanon seen closer to new government, minister says could be within days"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-io-article-url=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/1422451\/middle-east\" readability=\"46\">\n<p>\nBEIRUT: Lebanon appeared to be edging toward clinching a deal to form a new national unity government after more than seven months of wrangling over cabinet posts, as the finance minister was quoted as saying there could be a new administration within days.<br \/>Efforts to form a new government led by Prime Minister-designate Saad Al-Hariri have been obstructed by rival groups\u2019 conflicting demands for seats in a cabinet that must be formed in line with a finely balanced sectarian political system.<br \/>Heavily indebted and suffering from a stagnant economy, Lebanon is in dire need of an administration that can set about long-stalled economic reforms to put public debt on a sustainable footing.<br \/>\u201cMatters in the government file are moving in a positive direction.
