In Iceland and in Japan where coincidentally there are no Muslims,&#8221; the prime minister&#8217;s son wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In another post, he wrote that there were only two possible solutions for peace, either &#8220;all Jews leave (Israel) or all Muslims leave&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I prefer the second option,&#8221; added the 27-year-old, who has faced criticism\u00a0of being a grown man living in the prime minister&#8217;s residence despite having no official role and benefitting from a bodyguard, a driver and other perks.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook deleted Yair Netanyahu&#8217;s posts, in which he called for &#8220;avenging the deaths&#8221; of the two Israeli soldiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Yair Netanyahu, who\u00a0<span>shared a screenshot of the earlier post in violation of Facebook&#8217;s community rules,<\/span> took\u00a0<\/span>to Twitter to criticise the social networking giant, calling it a &#8220;dictatorship of thought&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Facebook blocked his account for 24 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>Double standards<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Palestinian\u00a0journalists and activists have long accused social media platforms such as Facebook of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2018\/01\/palestinians-fight-facebook-youtube-censorship-180119095053943.html\">double standards<\/a><span>\u00a0regarding the enforcement of their policies, as well as an imbalance in how they deal with censorship in the Israeli-Palestinian context.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Last last year, a <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2017\/12\/30\/facebook-says-it-is-deleting-accounts-at-the-direction-of-the-u-s-and-israeli-governments\/\" target=\"_blank\">damning report by <span>The Intercept<\/span><\/a>\u00a0said\u00a0that Facebook is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2018\/01\/facebook-silencing-palestinians-governments-request-180105163016464.html\">deleting content and blocking users<\/a>at the orders of the Israeli and the US governments.<\/p>\n<p>In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2018\/03\/gaza-facebook-complicit-israel-180305162403173.html\">dozens of Palestinian journalists rallied<\/a> outside the United Nations office in Gaza City to protest against the website&#8217;s practice of blocking Palestinian Facebook accounts, denouncing it as &#8220;a major violator of freedom of opinion and expression.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Facebook blocked roughly 200 Palestinian accounts last year &#8211; and 100 more since the start of 2018 &#8211; on phony pretexts,&#8221;\u00a0Salama Maarouf, a spokesperson for Hamas, the group that administers the besieged Gaza Strip, said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that some 20 percent of Israeli Facebook accounts &#8220;openly incite violence against Palestinians&#8221; without facing any threat of closure.<\/p>\n<p>In April, a report by 7amleh, the Arab Centre for Social Media Advancement,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2018\/04\/digital-occupation-israel-social-media-arabic-180403121518782.html\">said<\/a>\u00a0that the cyber unit of the Israeli government officially stated that Facebook accepted 85 percent of the government&#8217;s requests to delete content, accounts and pages of Palestinians in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This kind of Israeli monitoring and control of Palestinian digital content on social media has become a tool for mass arrests and gross human rights and digital rights violations,&#8221; the report said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div readability=\"32\">\n<p>\n            SOURCE:<br \/>\n            <span>Al Jazeera and news agencies<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook has briefly blocked the page of Israeli\u00a0Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#8217;s son, Yair,\u00a0\u00a0after he shared previously banned content calling for &#8220;all Muslims (to) leave&#8221; Israel.
