{"id":16104,"date":"2018-09-23T23:23:55","date_gmt":"2018-09-23T23:23:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=16104"},"modified":"2018-09-23T23:23:55","modified_gmt":"2018-09-23T23:23:55","slug":"four-killed-in-torrential-tunisia-rains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=16104","title":{"rendered":"Four killed in torrential Tunisia rains"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-io-article-url=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/1376526\/middle-east\" readability=\"63\">\n<p>\nNABEUL, Tunisia: Flash floods in Tunisia\u2019s Cap Bon peninsula have killed at least four people, authorities said Sunday, as surging waters caused by heavy rains carried away homes, cars and chunks of road.<br \/>Among the four dead were two sisters, swept away as they left work at a factory in Bou Argoub, 45 kilometers southeast of the capital, the interior ministry said.<br \/>A 60-year-old man drowned near the town of Takilsa and another man was found dead in Bir Bouregba, close to the town of Hammamet, ministry spokesman Sofiene Zaag told AFP.<br \/>Saturday\u2019s storm caused water levels in some areas to rise as much as 1.7 meters (5.6 feet), as bridges and roads were damaged in record rains that dropped the equivalent of nearly six months of average precipitation.<br \/>\u201cIt was raining since noon and (in the afternoon) it became torrential.
