Organisers in France claimed that roughly 115,000 took part in nationwide rallies. If true, it would make the &#8220;Rise for Climate&#8221; marches the largest environmental protest in the country&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;This is the biggest day of climate action in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/country\/france.html\">France<\/a>, it&#8217;s proof that the citizens are ready to demand commitments from our elected officials after a catastrophic summer when it comes to the climate,&#8221; said Clemence Dubois, the France campaigner for 350.org, a group whose website says it uses online and grassroots organising to &#8220;<span>to oppose new coal, oil and gas projects&#8221;.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another 10,000 rallied in Copenhagen, the capital of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/topics\/country\/denmark.html\">Denmark<\/a>, according to police.
