{"id":12442,"date":"2018-08-22T22:23:54","date_gmt":"2018-08-22T22:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=12442"},"modified":"2018-08-22T22:23:54","modified_gmt":"2018-08-22T22:23:54","slug":"yemeni-army-continues-to-push-houthi-militia-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qatar-news.org\/qatarnewsEn\/?p=12442","title":{"rendered":"Yemeni army continues to push Houthi militia back"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-io-article-url=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/node\/1360346\/middle-east\" readability=\"58\">\n<p>\nRAMALLAH: Palestinian leaders rejected overtures by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday after he said they would get something \u201cvery good\u201d in exchange for his country recognizing Jerusalem as Israel\u2019s capital.<br \/>Senior Palestinian official Ahmad Al-Tamimi said the US president\u2019s assertion that he had removed Jerusalem from future negotiations was \u201ca continuation of the US policies in favor of Israel.\u201d<br \/>Speaking to official Palestinian news agency WAFA, he added that Trump\u2019s push for a Israeli-Palestinian peace deal was impossible without \u201crecognizing east Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state.\u201d<br \/>The December decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel\u2019s capital and move the US embassy to the city sparked fury among Palestinians, with the political leadership cutting off ties to the US administration.<br \/>Palestinians see the eastern part of the disputed city as the capital of their future state.<br \/>The opening of the US embassy on May 14 saw mass protests and clashes on the Gaza border in which at least 63 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire.<br \/>Speaking to supporters in the United States on Tuesday, Trump again defended the move, saying he had eased future negotiations.<br \/>\u201cIf there\u2019s ever going to be peace \u2014 remember I said it \u2014 with the Palestinians, it was a good thing to have done because we took it off the table, because every time there were peace talks they never got past Jerusalem,\u201d Trump said at a rally in the US state of West Virginia.<br \/>\u201cAnd you know what, in the (future) negotiations Israel will have to pay a higher price because they won a very big thing.\u201d<br \/>\u201cNow (Jerusalem\u2019s) off the table, there is nothing to negotiate.
